Their life in brief
Born in Thessalonica in the ninth century, the brothers Constantine, later Cyril, and Methodius were sent as missionaries to Great Moravia.
They translated Scripture and worship into the language of the people and developed a written alphabet, enduring opposition for the sake of an understandable Gospel.
“We hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.”
Acts 2:11
What Saints Cyril and Methodius teaches us
Evangelization begins by listening. Love seeks words the other person can truly receive.
Pause and reflect
01Where is God inviting me to practice missionary understanding today?
02Who may need the grace of this saint’s witness through my actions?
Let us pray
Saints Cyril and Methodius, pray for me. Help me follow Jesus with missionary understanding and respond faithfully to the people and duties God has entrusted to me. May your witness draw me into deeper prayer, generous service, and confident hope in Christ. Amen.
Listen carefully to someone whose background differs from yours before offering advice.
