Their life in brief
Born to a noble family in Assisi in 1194, Clare left privilege after hearing Francis preach and received the habit of poverty.
At San Damiano she led the Poor Ladies, later called Poor Clares, defending their form of life and serving her sisters with perseverance and tenderness.
“Where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”
Matthew 6:21
What Clare of Assisi teaches us
Freedom grows when Christ becomes enough and possessions no longer determine our security or identity.
Pause and reflect
01Where is God inviting me to practice single-hearted poverty today?
02Who may need the grace of this saint’s witness through my actions?
Let us pray
Saint Clare of Assisi, pray for me. Help me follow Jesus with single-hearted poverty and respond faithfully to the people and duties God has entrusted to me. May your witness draw me into deeper prayer, generous service, and confident hope in Christ. Amen.
Release one possession or preoccupation that takes more space in your heart than it deserves.
