Their life in brief
Charles served in the court of King Mwanga II in nineteenth-century Buganda and protected younger pages from exploitation while preparing catechumens for baptism.
He and companions, Catholic and Anglican, refused demands contrary to their faith and were killed in 1886, becoming a radiant witness for the Church in Africa.
