Their life in brief
Agatha was a young Christian woman of Sicily who suffered martyrdom in the third century after refusing to abandon her consecration to Christ.
Her ancient cult spread quickly through the Church, and generations have invoked her in illness, danger, and times of fire.
“Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.”
Matthew 10:28
What Agatha teaches us
The world may wound the body or reputation, but it cannot possess a heart freely entrusted to Christ.
Pause and reflect
01Where is God inviting me to practice courage in suffering today?
02Who may need the grace of this saint’s witness through my actions?
Let us pray
Saint Agatha, pray for me. Help me follow Jesus with courage in suffering and respond faithfully to the people and duties God has entrusted to me. May your witness draw me into deeper prayer, generous service, and confident hope in Christ. Amen.
Pray for someone whose dignity has been wounded by abuse or exploitation.
